A Walk in the Dark !

rapevictim

She was still breathing, but the soul was lost,
Tossed carelessly on junk-cluttered sidewalks,
drugged and dead, unconscious,
Of the world around her,
now whatever existence she had, certainly wasn’t life.
Filth and stench of the city, caked into her skin
Heartless beast made it seem she was part of garbage she was lying in.

    1. Difficult to fathom the pain of a woman. I had written about the plundering of a woman's soul and her sufferings this way: namratakumari.blogspot.in/2012/12/ruptured-soul.html

  9. I'm reminded of a Malayalam poem in which a young boy joins his father's morning walk only to see the ravished body of a woman lying on the roadside. The day is just breaking out. The father tells the son, "Light is sorrow, son / Darkness is solace."
